Guillermo del Toro wants Maisie Williams for Pacific Rim 2
Universal may have dropped Pacific Rim 2 from its releasing schedule, but that doesn’t mean that Guillermo del Toro has given up on the project. Indeed, he’s still dreaming about potential casting decisions, with the director revealing he would love to have Game Of Thrones star Maisie Williams on board for the follow-up.
"Had lunch with Maisie Williams yesterday," revealed Del Toro via his official Twitter feed. "Remarkable. Dammit - if PR2 happens, that girl is getting a Jaeger." "If" would appear to be the operative word there, although Del Toro does seem to be pretty upbeat about the project’s chances of salvation.
Indeed, in an official statement released last week, Universal did say that the studio remains committed to making the sequel at some point down the track. Del Toro has subsequently announced that his next film will be a smaller, low-budget drama, but it seems as though the monster maestro is still pushing hard to make this one happen.
