Guillermo del Toro Spills More Hobbit Info

Guillermo del Toro has opened up again about The Hobbit, letting loose some slivers of new information about the anticipated Tolkien adaptation.

Talking to fan site BilboHobbit , the Hellboy II director explained that the shooting of the film (or films) – which we already knew would be something of a mammoth slog – will begin in 2010 and shoot for about 370 days or so.”

As for talented types who will likely be jumping from his other films to help him with the Hobbit, del Toro rattled off his wish list: ‘hopefully (Mike) Mignola, Spectral Motion, Guillermo Navarro and others.”

CGI meets puppetry

And, just as he began to shove the boundaries between puppetry and CG with Pan’s Labyrinth and HBII, he intends to take it even further given the resources offered for his next project: “You will see some mind-boggling mixture of CGI/puppetry like never before. The demarcation of where one technique ends and the other begins will NOT be as clean as in HBII or Blade II or Pan’s Labyrinth. I am going to push further than ever on both fronts.”

Yes, we’re trying not to get more excited that we already were, but the film just seems too damn far away…
