Guardians of the Galaxy 2 gets its first poster, and it's perfect. Obviously.

Guardians of the Galaxy is the biggest success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe outside of the Avengers films, partly because audiences loved its goofy-yet-heartfelt tone and charismatic cast.

Well, get ready for a warm and fuzzy sense of deja vu, because the first poster for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is here, and it hits all the right notes.

Director James Gunn shared the image via Twitter, where the immediate reaction was a general consensus of "OH EM GOODNESS, LOOKIT THE CUTE LITTLE BABY GROOT AT STAR-LORD'S FEET! HE'S A BOOT GOOT!" And yeah, I'd say that's the appropriate response.

Interestingly, it looks like Yondu and Nebula, who were both on less-than-friendly terms with Star-Lord and pals in the first film, are joining up with the crew for the sequel. And while Nebula is looking as smooth-headed as before, Yondu has gotten an upgrade in the mohawk department. This is gonna be good.

Directed by James Gunn and starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Michael Rooker, Kurt Russell, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will hit UK cinemas on April 28, 2017 and open in US theatres on May 5, 2017.
