The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 screenplay is officially ready

Prepare yourself for another round of intergalactic frivolity set to a soundtrack of jaunty disco tunes: the screenplay for Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 is ready. Writer-director James Gunn hit social media last night to post indisputable proof that the final draft is in the bag with a snapshot of the title page.

Coming to you presently, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista (Batista), Michael Rooker, Sean Gunn, Vin Diesel.

"So this is what happens when you take your brain between your hands and wring out its every last juice. Being sent out now," he added over on Instagram.

With production due to commence next month ahead of its 2017 release date, Gunn went on to tease a few little tidbits of info concerning the shoot. Two additional cast members have joined the ensemble that so far includes the Guardians themselves Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel, but Gunn wouldn't type any new names. One of those could be Kurt Russell, who's been linked to the role of Peter Quill's father in the last month. Now that scripts are being shuttled to the cast, perhaps we'll get an official confirmation?

And, seeing as no Guardians sequel would be complete without a killer soundtrack, one commenter asked the director if he was still selecting tunes. Gunn's response? "Awesome Mix Vol. 2 is already finished - all the songs are in the script." Awesome.

Directed by James Gunn, and starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Michael Rooker, Sean Gunn, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel, Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 opens on May 5, 2017.
