This GTA Online Event Weekend is the perfect time to jump out of a helicopter

Get ready to turn on, tune in, and drop out of a helicopter several thousand feet in the air in GTA Online this weekend. Rockstar is hosting another Event Weekend with double GTA$ and Reputation Point rewards for all Adversary Modes, including the brand new Drop Zone, and a bunch of deals to let you hit the ground running (instead of just hitting the ground). As has become the norm, though, it's just on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Drop Zone just went live on Thursday, matching up to 16 players for skydiving sessions that rapidly turn into King-of-the-Hill battles. If playing in the new mode just serves to remind you that your aerial fashion is still so 2015, you'll also find a 50 percent discount on all "paratrooper gear" over the event weekend. That includes bulletproof helmets, parachutes, parachute bags, and even parachute smoke, which usually costs an arm and a leg. Speaking of an arm and a leg, buying a few spare parachutes is a great way to make sure you don't break them (and the rest of your body) in an unexpected fall.

You'll also get twice as much GTA$ and RP from competing in all races, which is a great excuse to try out the new, fully moddable Karin Sultan and Bravado Banshee. I'll always make time for my Tokyo-driftin' Karin Futo, but it's tough to resist taking on top-of-the-line supercars with a tricked out Sultan. Speaking of new cars, all garage properties are on sale for 25 percent off if you need more storage space.

The Event Weekend will run from now through Sunday. Don't forget that you can drop into the Event Playlist straight from the start-up screen for instant action, and that you'll be rewarded with a free selection of sticky bombs, SMG ammo, and grenades if you complete all three jobs in one go.
