GTA 5's Franklin actor is back to teasing DLC

Well, here we go again. GTA 5 performance capture (that means doing voice and motion capture at the same time) artist Shawn Fonteno sent out another Instagram image of himself in the familiar ping-pong-ball laden mo-cap suit today, clearly at a Rockstar studio. Fonteno, who plays protagonist Franklin Clinton, posted the image with the caption "LOL FUCCCCCCC IT ……" (since amended simply to the much more wholesome "LOL ……").

LOL ......

It's a massive teaser for GTA 5 fans who are still awaiting the game's Story Mode DLC, which was originally slated to continue "Michael, Franklin, and Trevor's action, mayhem, and unexpected adventures in Southern San Andreas" sometime in 2014. Rockstar's said next to nothing about the Story Mode DLC since making that announcement in December 2013, and parent company Take-Two had apparently forgotten about it at one point.

This is however the second time Fonteno has sent out a figuratively winking image of himself in a motion capture suit, the first time being back in June 2015. Franklin hasn't showed up in any new GTA 5 or GTA Online content since then, but could the recording process for whatever it is really take almost half a year? And are Michael and Trevor's actors just not so Instagram-happy, or will their characters not appear in the DLC after all?

I had filed GTA 5's Story Mode DLC under "Never Going To Happen" back in September, when flagship studio Rockstar North admitted that GTA Online was commanding the full attention of key GTA 5 devs. But Fonteno's Instagram feed just keeps pulling me back in. At this point, if that DLC ever does happen, it had better add a jet pack and playable, aged-up versions of Claude, Tommy Vercetti, and Carl Johnson.
