Green Lantern a go-go
Superhero flick gets official green light...
Talk about down to the wire.
It’s a mere 10 weeks away from its March shooting date, but Ryan Reynolds superhero flick Green Lantern has finally been given the official go ahead by Warner Bros.
Visual effects supervisor Karen Goulekas confirmed the good news on her blog.
“ Green Lantern got the official green light today!” she wrote. “And not a second too soon - only 10 weeks out from shooting!
“While it's great news we are a go - now we have to actually get our prep done in 10 weeks! But we have an amazing crew - so we will make it happen!”
Not only that, but filming is taking place just a few months shy of a year before its release date of 17 June, 2011. That’s a heck of a lot of post-production to cram into a relatively short space of time, especially considering the extensive SFX that will be involved.
Still, in this bleak winter of filmic discontent, when projects are evaporating into the ether quicker than the snow, this is great news.

Cameras are set to roll in March with Martin Campbell in the director’s chair. Still no love interest casting confirmed ( see the reported five contenders here ), but expect more very soon.
