Godzilla goes viral with brand new website

Gareth Edwards' Godzilla remake has launched a new viral marketing campaign by debuting a brand new website charting a series of mysterious events hinting at the giant lizard's reign of terror.
The new site, entitled Godzilla Encounter , collects would-be accounts of strange occurrences around the San Diego area, tying in neatly with the film's forthcoming panel at the San Diego Comic-Con.
The first two accounts speak of "deep sea tectonic activity" as well as the presence of a "massive black iceberg" out at sea, confirming that Godzilla will initially make his bow from the briny depths of the Pacific Ocean.
There have only been two such "occurrences" uploaded so far, but expect more to surface over the coming days and weeks, as the titular menace makes his presence increasingly felt.
Directed by Edwards and co-starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Bryan Cranston and Elizabeth Olsen, Godzilla will open in the US and UK on 16 May 2014.
