GI Joes Joseph Gordon Levitt talks Cobra Commander
“I’ve seen how he looks and it’s really cool”
While all of the pictures emerging from the GI Joe camp have been of the heroes, director Stephen Sommers has kept main villain Cobra Commander – played by Brick’s Joseph Gordon-Levitt – under wraps. Now Gordon Levitt is talking about what we might see.
Fans of the character will know that he’s had several looks over the years with various outfits and masks, and boasts a somewhat nasty back-story.
Gordon-Levitt says that we can expect something disturbing for his appearance, according to MTV .
“The cool thing about my character was that it’s not that digital,” he said. “I get to put hours of prosthetic makeup on and see a different creature altogether. I’ve seen how he looks and it’s really cool.”
And in the Marvel cartoons, he boasted a high-pitched battle screech - but don’t expect to see it taken all the way in the movie. “I love that voice from the cartoon,” the actor explains.
“Chris Latta is a fantastic voiceover artist, but if you did that exact voice it would sound ridiculous in a live-action movie. I guess it’s half Chris Latta and half me.” Works for us.
