Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 - single player hands-on
More gadgets, more grit, more GRAW
The options for planning and executing a precision attack don't end there. The futuristic techno gadgets that made the first GRAW so cool have also been expanded upon for the sequel. The Cross Com system, which enables players to communicate with their teammates or any supporting vehicles, can now display a full screen point-of-view feed from that source rather than the previous picture-in-picture window.
While this may sound like a small visual gimmick, we discovered it to be crucial to our strategy. We could order our unit to a distant and dangerous hot zone, then jump virtually into their helmets to get a complete look at the situation without ever putting our own neck on the line. And if they encountered an enemy while scouting, we could simply tell them to attack, even if the enemy was completely out of our own character's scope of vision.
Or, if you really value virtual human life, don't risk anyone. Send in the robots. The UAV drone, that recon-gathering wonder frisbee from the original game, returns. With the added full screen POV capabilities, it's tons more useful too; gathering intel on the enemy is a lot easier when you can actually see them and not just the red diamond symbols that represent them. The new MULE - an unmanned, remotely controlled artillery vehicle - is also incredibly handy. The thing is truly multipurpose, providing fresh ammunition, weapon switch outs and - in the heat of battle - a movable cover object or a large armored distraction.
