The time to beat Ghost of Tsushima will take roughly twenty hours at the bare minimum, and potentially three or four times that, depending on you as a player. Being a big open world sandbox game, Ghost of Tsushima has all sorts of side content and optional extras to find, so while following just the main story and the critical path will still give you a pretty full experience, that's barely a third of what the game has to offer. I'll explain below exactly how long it takes to beat Ghost of Tsushima in hours, as well as the New Game Plus mode waiting for you when it's done.
How long is Ghost of Tsushima?
- Just story/critical path: 20-25 hours
- Main story + some extra content (standard playthrough): 35-40 hours
- 100% Completion: 50-60 hours
As is the case with most open world games with lots of filler content, Ghost of Tsushima is a long game. If you spend as much time with the breathtaking photo mode as we did, you can expect the hours to start piling up. As a general baseline though, you're looking at 50-60 hours to 100% complete Ghost of Tsushima and earn the platinum trophy.
If you only want to beat the main story however, expect to spend much less time with the game. You're probably looking at 20-25 hours if you only do story missions. Want to mainly focus on the story but also pick up side quests here and there, along with most of the Mongol camps to reveal the map? Around 35-40 hours would be a solid estimation.
Again, your experience may differ depending on what difficulty you play on, how slowly you explore the world, and if you fast travel or saunter everywhere on horseback. One thing's for certain though; don't expect to breeze through Ghost of Tsushima in a weekend.
How many acts are in Ghost of Tsushima?
Ghost of Tsushima has three separate acts, each of them linked to the three regions of Tsushima island; Izuhara, Toyotama, and Kamiagata. When you reach a certain point in the third act, the entire island will open up so you can travel wherever you like, but there will be a short while when you'll only be able to explore Kamiagata. We recommend doing the main story missions as quickly as possible at that point so you can get back to exploring everywhere.
Is there a Ghost of Tsushima New Game Plus mode?
Yes, Ghost of Tsushima does have a New Game Plus mode, added as part of an update in October 2022. NG+ allows players to bring all their skills and upgrades to a new game, as well as unlocking some new items and upgrades to aim towards. Not only that, but there's new merchants, outfits and cosmetics to unlock, as well as a unique mask for completing NG+!
