General Zod channels Flipper in Batman V Superman
Another bizarre piece in the Batman V Superman puzzle has entered play, with Michael Shannon offering up details on General Zod's unexpected new 'upgrade' for the movie. The actor let slip during a recent interview in which he regaled Vulture with an amusing toilet-related anecdote:
“I was in my costume, and I couldn’t use my fingers, because in the sequel I have flippers instead of hands,” he said. "So I had these wax flippers on my fingers, and I couldn’t open the door, and I could hear Zack being like, 'Where’s Shannon? Where the fuck is he?' and the whole crew was standing around. I was like, knocking on the door with my flippers, 'Let me out of here!'”
Some kind soul came to his rescue and he continued filming - in flippers. Either Shannon's yanking our collective chains, or Zack Snyder's got something new cooking for the former Kryptonian tyrant. The sight of Zod's blue-hued corpse in the trailer set tongues wagging concerning the character's resurrection after his spectacular death at the hands of Superman.
One prevailing idea is that Lex Luthor comes into possession of his body, leading to the creation of the iconic Supes villain Doomsday. Yet this latest development throws shade on that theory, as Doomsday doesn't sport flippers. And Shannon's happy to leave us in the dark. “Well, I haven’t seen the trailer either," he adds, "so I don’t know what I am in the trailer. I could be a toaster, or a Porsche, I don’t know.”
With Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice chasing down a March 25, 2016 release date, there's plenty of time for the truth to surface.
