Specialist games retailer GameStop claims it’s experiencing "strong demand" for PS4 news.
President Tony Bartel said 600,000 members of GameStop's PowerUp Rewards loyalty program (which has around 21 million members) have signed up to the PS4 'First to Know List', a notification service offering updates on game announcements and pre-order details.
"With only a glance at the PS4, gamers are excited and eager to know more," he said. "Within just a few weeks, more than 600,000 people have signed up, showing strong demand for this new console."
Sony Computer Entertainment America CEO Jack Tretton added: "Our goal with PlayStation 4 is to deliver inspiring and creative play experiences that gamers have never seen before. The level of enthusiasm we're seeing from GameStop customers demonstrates how the promise of PS4 is resonating with gamers, and we're looking forward to unveiling more about the new platform in the coming months."
Sony announced PS4 last month, when it confirmed plans to launch the console this “holiday” in unspecified territories. For more on the system, check out our hub for the latest PS4 coverage.
