Gamescom Dead Rising 2: Off the Record trailer is entertaining AND informative

For as much as we liked whatshisface… wait, hold one… we’ll remember it… Chuck! Right. Good old Chuck-o. Anyway, for as much as we liked Chuck in Dead Rising 2, Frank West will always be the zombie-killing lead of the Dead Rising series in our hearts. We fell in love with him in the original game, and we’re really excited to see him coming back in Off the Record, a budget-priced remake of the second Dead Rising that drops Frank into Fortune City to play through the events of the sequel. There are new weapons, new items, characters, vehicles, and upgrades, but most importantly of all, there’s the return of Frank West’s most powerful weapon. No, not his casual nudity: his camera. Take a look…

While we’d normally take offense to a straight-up remake so soon after a game’s release, we can’t help but squeal with joy over being able to play a full-fledged Dead Rising with Frank West back in the driver’s seat. Don’t get why we love Frank so much? Watch that trailer again, and we have a feeling you’ll understand. Also, he’s covered wars, you know.

Off the Record is due out in October—and we’re personally holding out for a Special Edition that comes with a crappy disposable camera. Come on, Capcom, make it so.
