The Nintendo Switch 2 has just had its full reveal via a Nintendo Switch 2 Direct live event. There, we found out more about the handheld's key features, specs, and launch titles. Right now, it's looking like Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders are on hold until next week in most of the world, but some Australian retailers like JB Hi-Fi and EB Games are jumping the gun. In other words, you can secure your Nintendo Switch 2 right now.

The Nintendo Switch 2 launches on June 5 in Australia, with a AU$699.95 RRP. A Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle is also available for AU$769.95.

Amazon, JB Hi-Fi and EB Games are all well seasoned in this game - they've been regulars in the race for console stock from other brands. At the time of writing - early on the morning of April 3 - only a couple of Aussie retailers are accepting actual money for actual pre-orders, as per below.

AU$699 at JB Hi-Fi

While most international retailers aren't pulling the pre-order trigger until April 9, JB Hi-Fi is already taking pre-orders. They have a limit of one unit per customer, and are stocking both the standalone model and the Mario Kart World Bundle for AU$769.

EB Games is already taking pre-orders: pay a AU$50 deposit now and then the rest on launch day (or a couple of days before that, they haven't specified). The Mario Kart World bundle is also available for AU$769.95.

Big W will start taking pre-orders on the Nintendo Switch 2 at 10am on April 3 (that's today!). As will no doubt be common, orders are limited to one console per person. The Mario Kart World bundle is also available at 10am.

Independent Australian games retailer The Gamesmen are taking pre-orders for both the vanilla Nintendo Switch 2 and the AU$769.95 Mario Kart World bundle. A limit of one console per customer applies.

Amazon

Amazon

Amazon can be speedy on delivery, so it makes sense to hold out for these orders if you're a Prime member, but it can be slow to launch its stock. At time of writing, pre-orders aren't live on Amazon Australia, but we're keeping a close eye out.

Of course, Nintendo's own online store is going to be a safe bet for getting a Nintendo Switch 2, but no pre-order options are available at present.

When will Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders go live?

Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders are already available in Australia via JB Hi-Fi and Amazon. Reports suggest other retailers will follow suit on April 9, but we're keeping a close eye: since two retailers have jumped the gun, it's likely the others will too.

How much will the Nintendo Switch cost?

The Nintendo Switch 2 price is AU$699 in Australia, which compares favourably to what we predicted (around AU$790!). That's for the standalone console: a bundle including Mario Kart World will sell for AU$769.95.

In the meantime, check out all the latest Nintendo Switch 2 backwards compatibility updates as well as the best Nintendo Switch accessories and the best Nintendo Switch headsets on the market.
