What's new in the Fortnite OG Season 3?
Fortnite OG Season 3 sees the return of Lucky Landings, the meteor, plus the OG 50v50 LTM

Fortnite OG Season 3 is here, and you'll need to keep one eye on the skies as it's time to Brace For Impact. That's because the original Season 3, which launched in February 2018 and had the title Meteor Strike, saw the appearance of a large meteor arriving from space and increasingly affecting the island as the season progressed. As happened back then, we can expect to see sky-watching camps start to appear at various POIs featuring telescopes scanning the horizon, followed by meteorite fragments raining down across the island in the final days.
It was around this point in Fortnite history that the player base began rapidly expanding, and not long afterwards Epic started releasing cinematic trailers and introducing lore to the battle royale. If you want to find out more, then here's everything you need to know about Fortnite OG Season 3.
When does Fortnite OG Season 3 start?
The Fortnite OG Season 3 release date is Tuesday March 25, 2025, as seen in the official announcement from the @Fortnite account. There was no official start time confirmed, so based on previous seasons it is likely that Fortnite OG Season 3 will launch as soon as the Fortnite server downtime has concluded.
What's included in Fortnite OG Season 3?
Unlike the big changes last season that saw the return of Tilted Towers and more, there isn't such a significant update to the map in Fortnite OG Season 3, though the Asian-themed Lucky Landing has reappeared to the south of Fatal Fields. The large meteor in the sky will also be making a comeback, and as the OG season progresses we'll start to see meteorite fragments crashing down onto the island.
There will also be a new Fortnite OG Season 3 Pass available, with 45 tiers of retro rewards to unlock including three outfits. If you want to get more than a few freebies though you'll need to buy the OG Pass, which either costs 1,000 V-Bucks ($8.99 / £6.99) as a one-off purchase or is included as part of the Fortnite Crew subscription for an ongoing $11.99 / £8.99 payment every month. The three outfits this season are:
- Power Punk (unlocked when purchasing the OG Pass)
- Mecha R3X
- Sir Raven
Fortnite OG Season 3 will also see some more classic gear returning to the loot pool, with new items being added at regular intervals. The Guided Missile, Hand Cannon, and Hunting Rifle are all available from the start of the season, with other items including the Clinger grenade shown in the teaser arriving at a later date. The full list of new weapons and items is as follows:
- Guided Missile (out now)
- Hand Cannon (out now)
- Hunting Rifle (out now)
- Clingers
- Heavy Shotgun
- Light Machine Gun
- Port-A-Fort
- Remote Explosive
Finally, the 50v50 LTM is returning to the game as OG 50v50, where two teams of 50 players face off in the ultimate large-scale clash for victory. This was the first ever Limited Time Mode to be added to the battle royale way back in 2017, and you can play it from now until April 14, 2025.
Remember, you can claim OG rewards by earning XP across any of the available experiences, so get working towards those new goals from now until the end of Fortnite OG Season 3 on June 8, 2025!
