Classic co-op platformer Nikoderiko: The Magical World blasts onto consoles next month
With music from a platforming legend
Colorful and chaotic, throwback arcade platformer Nikoderiko: The Magical World is bringing classic couch co-op to consoles next month.
Nikoderiko puts players in the shoes of Niko and Luna in a platforming adventure inspired by classic arcade platformers like Donkey Kong Country and Spyro the Dragon. When our heroes discover an ancient relic, it's not long before the villainous Grimbald snatches it away from them. It's up to Niko and Luna to get it back, crossing a whole bunch of exotic worlds accompanied by furry friends and with plenty of fiendish foes to defeat.
You'll be able to summon those friends and make use of their unique abilities across a range of platforming environments From its detailed 2.5D environments to its Crash-style chases, your friends can show up to act as rideable mounts or as allies in battle - crucial when you reach the unique area of each world's intimidating boss! And if you'd rather a different way to travel, you'll find levels where you can take flight on the back of a bat, take a risk in an out-of-control minecart, or even take a plunge (and ride a seahorse) in Nikoderiko: The Magical World's take on the iconic underwater level.
If having all of that to explore sounds daunting, don't worry. Nikoderiko: The Magical World's single-screen couch co-op makes it easy for family and friends to join in on the fun. And with a soundtrack composed entirely by legendary platforming composer David Wise - who has leant his expertise to Star Fox, Super Smash Bros, Donkey Kong Country and many more iconic games - you'll never want that fun to end.
Nikoderiko: The Magical World is a love-letter to the platforming genre, and launches on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on October 15.
