Is Avowed on Game Pass? The short answer is yes, Obsidian Entertainment's long-awaited action RPG is available on the service. The studio has been part of Microsoft since 2018 and since Avowed is an Xbox console exclusive published by Xbox Game Studios, it's hardly surprising it launched on Games Pass. However, whether you're playing on PC or Xbox Series X, you need to make sure you have the right Game Pass subscription to play Avowed, so I've explained how that works below.
How to play Avowed on Game Pass
Yes, Avowed is on Game Pass, and it is available for free to both Xbox and PC players who subscribe to that service. PC players must have the standard PC Game Pass subscription to get the game, while those on Xbox Series X and S need Game Pass Ultimate - the highest subscription tier - for it as new games on day one are not included in the Core or Standard console subscription packages. That's not to say that Avowed won't be available on those lower tiers at some point in the future, but if that does happen it won't be any time soon.
You can also stream the game through the cloud and it benefits from Xbox's "Play Anywhere" feature, so you can pick up where you left off across PC via the Windows store and your Xbox Series X. Note that this does not work if you bought Avowed through Steam!
Xbox Game Pass subscribers can also purchase the Avowed Premium Upgrade Edition with a 10% discount for $22.49 / £17.99. This gets you two bonus outfits to change appearance in Avowed for your companions, along with access to the digital artbook and original soundtrack. However, bear in mind that this premium upgrade originally included up to five days early access, which you obviously can't use anymore, making this quite an expensive pack.
