Games vs Movies: 20 cutscenes compared
We match up classic games to their film counterparts
The menacing grin from this killing cyborg is replicated somewhat faithfully. However, the game’s fire effects look more like floral wallpaper and not a harbinger of the impending apocalypse.
Even if the game was complete crap, the screenshot accurately depicts the source material of the film, based on a television skit about two dorky rockers hosting a syndicated television program. The plot of the movie involves sponsorship by an arcade. That tangential information completes the circle.
If anyone can pull off masquerading as a decrepit geezer into fooling Aladdin to search for a tea lamp, it’s Jafar. Thankfully, the Disney film isn’t presented with portraits of elderly men and beards that no frame can handle. The movie offers a more laughable Jafar doing a crazy crab-walk, instead of this picture of sinister.
That title crawl is barf-awful in the game. But what do we have here? No planet underneath the Star Destroyer? LucasArts probably ran out of their allotted bits for the first entry in the series.
