Game Of Thrones recruits a new disciple of the Lord of Light
The Lord of Light might have lost a follower last season in the form of the fallen Stannis Baratheon, but it sounds as though he’s about to gain one, with Deadline reporting that British actress Melanie Liburd has joined the cast for season 6. She’ll be playing a Red Priestess named Kinvara, and she may have a key part to play as the saga begins to approach its endgame (spoilers ahead).
According to a leaked audition script, the new character is described as a “High Priestess of the Red Temple of Volantis, the Flametruth, the light of wisdom, the first servant of the Lord of the Light”. Kind of a big deal, then, with fans speculating she’ll be heavily involved in seeking out the much-discussed hero of R’hllor, Azor Ahai.
Just who that turns out to be remains to be seen, but naturally there are a whole host of online theories to be expanded upon, with a couple of fan-favourites in the frame to play saviour. Game Of Thrones will return to our screens next spring, with a specific air date yet to be confirmed.
