Game Of Thrones Season Three becomes fastest-selling box set of the decade
TV show makes £5.4m in one week in the UK
Game Of Thrones season three has smashed DVD and Blu-ray records in the UK by becoming the fastest-selling TV series box set of the last decade.
Released on 17 February 2014, almost 190,000 units of the HBO show's third season were shifted to the mind-boggling tune of £5.4m in just one week.
“We’re delighted with the result at HBO,” said Ian Fullerton, Marketing Director of HBO Home Entertainment. “We always knew this would be a big release and it’s great to see it doing so well across every sector of the market.”
Could the box set's massive sales be thanks to the now-infamous Red Wedding episode, 'The Rains Of Castamere'?
We recently chatted to the show's cast about the episode , and it certainly seemed to have made a lasting impression on them.
Season four of Game Of Thrones will air on Sky Atlantic from 7 April 2014.
