Game of Thrones' Maisie Williams says "sign me up" for The New Mutants

Last month a rumor landed online concerning the cast of Josh Boone's X-Men spin-off, The New Mutants. Woah, there's been casting? Kind of. Almost immediately after Hitfix dropped a report that X-Men: Apocalypse's Alexandra Shipp, The Witch's Anya Taylor-Joy and Game of Thrones' Maisie Williams were up for roles, Fox denied it. While it seemed like the matter was done with, Wiliams has since opened up about her potential involvement in the movie.

That previous report had the trio of actresses pegged for leading parts. As expected, Shipp would reprise her Storm role from Apocalypse, with Taylor-Joy cast as Magik and Williams as Wolfsbane, a Scottish girl who's also a shape-shifting werewolf. Judging by her comments, it seems like the young Stark lass has had discussions with the studio about going all lycanthrope.

"I can’t say much about it at all," she tells Entertainment Weekly, "but I would absolutely love to be a part of it, [and] to be a part of the Marvel family. New Mutants looks absolutely incredible and I’ve always loved the idea of spin-offs and Joshua Boone is incredibly talented. So, yeah, sign me up."

It's hardly a definitive yes, but it clears up the fact that some talks have taken place. Should it all work out, we may see Williams alongside her Game of Thrones sister Sophie Turner, who plays a young Jean Grey in Apocalypse. Isn't that reason enough, Fox? Cast her now!

Without a firm release date on the schedule we've a while to wait before this latest part of the mutant universe splinters off; Boone and co-writer Knate Lee just recently submitted their second draft of the screenplay.
