R.C. Pro-Am was a racing game that was truly ahead of the curve. There are tons of newer racing titles out there that make R.C. Pro-Am look ancient, but few of these modern racers have managed to match the feeling of complete control you had in this NES classic. Power sliding your remote-controlled cars through the twisty tracks while dodging oil slicks always felt great.
The only thing tighter than R.C. Pro-Am’s precise controls was its kicking soundtrack. Our favorite: the title screen song. Now, that’s the sound of good times that are about to happen!
After blowing on our old R.C. Pro-Am cart and struggling to get the game to start on our NES, we always remembered taking a moment to relax and enjoy the non-garbled title screen and the blistering keyboard craziness bumping in the background.
The track was composed by David Wise. Until 1994, he was lead composer for Rare and is most famous for his work on the Donky Kong Country soundtrack as well as Cobra Triangle, and most recently, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts.
