Galactic Civilizations II: Twilight of the Arnor

Sept 19, 2007

You won't find any big breasted babes or recycled Warcraft-in-space gameplay here for mass appeal's sake. Galactic Civilizations II: Twilight of the Arnor sticks to what the series does best with deep 4X turn-based space strategy and more technology to research, ships to build, and planets to conquer.

But try explaining how Galactic Civilizations can mesmerize you with menus and endless branches of tech, and the person you're talking too will probably walk away mid-sentence. Maybe that's why to outsiders, Twilight of the Arnor's list of new features reads like a lullaby that'll put them to bed.

Twilight of the Arnor will introduce new ship components that'll make ships travel faster, do more damage, and absorb more damage. Different tech trees for every civilization, new textures and graphics for planets and ships, extra alien portraits and logos, and the conclusion to the Dread Lord wars saga also join the mix.

Not excited? A little confused? We're a little concerned that this expansion might be a bit premature seeing as how the last expansion for Galactic Civilizations II, Dark Avatar just released earlier this year. Still, the more we dig around, the more we find that people are either excited as hell about Twilight of the Arnor, or have no idea what Galactic Civilizations is and will probably be too busy playing Halo 3 to ever try it.
