One Night In Turin director James Erskine’s latest sporting doc revisits one of English cricket’s greatest successes, the summer 1981 Ashes series against Australia.

Set against the backdrop of inner-city riots and the royal wedding, it relates how England’s star player, Somerset all-rounder Ian Botham, resigned the captaincy after the first two tests but then produced glorious match-winning performances.

Wider themes of leadership and social class are explored, but it’s fundamentally aimed at cricket fans, who’ll doubtless relish rewatching Beefy’s heroic feats with bat and ball.
