Big news for Pokemaniacs, Nintendo has just launched a free wi-fi download for Pokemon HeartGold / SoulSilver that unlocks a special route on your Pokewalker. The Yellow Forest route will be available for download from April 1st through May 5th through the mystery gift option in the main menu. Follow Nintendo’s directions for the download, and get ready for an avalanche of fluffy yellow electric mice on your next walk.

While a regular Pikachu may seem like old-hat to most players, the Yellow Forest Pikachu are special: the rarer group A versions sport the ability to use Fly and Surf. This is big news for trainers, as Pikachu has never been able to use Fly before, and a surfing Pikachu hasn’t been officially available for years. Players interested in getting one of these rare Pikachus will need to do a little bit of walking though, as it requires roughly 10,000 steps on the Pokewalker before either will start appearing in encounters.
At the rate Pokemon fans are logging in the miles walking, don’t be surprised if you start seeing track starsadvertising Nike's new line ofPokewalker cases.
