Frank Darabont rewriting Godzilla reboot
Plus, lead actors being rumoured
Lots of movement on the upcoming Godzilla reboot, with Frank Darabont being drafted in to rewrite the script, and a new clutch of actors circling the leading role.
The previous draft was written by Max Borenstein, and Darabont has now been approached to give it an additional bit of polish, With director Gareth Edwards aiming for a “grounded, realistic” tone, it seems to be a move that makes sense.
Meanwhile, casting rumours are in full flow, with a host of leading men supposedly circling the film’s main role. Joseph Gordon-Levitt was reportedly offered the part, only to refuse in favour of Sin City 2 , meaning that the field is wide open again.
Henry Cavill, Scoot McNairy and Caleb Landry-Jones are thought to be the frontrunners at this stage, with McNairy boasting the considerable advantage of having worked with Edwards on his breakthrough hit, Monsters .
Filming will begin in Hawaii and Vancouver on 14 March, ahead of a planned UK release date of 16 May 2014. The giant lizard walks again…
