Fortnite Oathbound Chests locations
How to damage Oathbound Chests to retrieve Hard Drives
Fortnite Oathbound Chests are increasingly in demand, and not just because of the high level loot you'll receive when you open one of these oversized chests. Although they only appear in certain sectors of the island, you can track them down by the distinctive hum they emit when you get near to them, and if you search one you'll receive a selection of Fortnite Oathbound Items that can absolutely give you an edge over your rivals. You also need to damage Oathbound Chests to retrieve Hard Drives for one of the Fortnite quests in the Oathbound strand, making them even more important to locate.
To help you achieve that, we have details on how to find Oathbound Chests in Fortnite, including how to scan areas to highlight their positions, as well as the lowdown on what you can expect to find once you've located them.
Where to find Oathbound Chests in Fortnite
The Oathbound Chests are considerably rarer than standard chests in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1, but you can usually find some that have spawned around certain key locations. We've marked all of the Fortnite Oathbound Chests locations we've encountered so far on the map above, and you'll notice that they're almost exclusively found in the autumnal biomes rather than the lush green or snowy areas, which should help you narrow down your search a little.

Oathbound Chests are large white and blue chests with an ornate, knightly look to them, and they are significantly bigger than the standard chests we're familiar with. If you want help finding them, the clearest way is to take one of the Fortnite Capture Points in a named location – the Domination-like flags – as by winning it you'll mark ALL chests in the local area. The Oathbound Chests stick out because they're clearly larger, so just head to that stretched-looking chest and you'll find what you're looking for.
Fortnite Oathbound Chests carry a random pool of gear, but are guaranteed to contain a lot of gold bars and a weapon of at least Rare quality or higher. It's a good way to try and find the Fortnite Shockwave Hammer, which is an Epic melee option that's not easily found at the best of times, but will allow you to bounce and smash your way around. It may also reveal a Fortnite Falcon Scout, which you can fly above your current location to scan for enemies and use to carry loot or even downed squadmates back from a distance.
How to damage Oathbound Chests to retrieve Hard Drives in Fortnite
To damage Oathbound Chests to retrieve Hard Drives in Fortnite, you just need to find them with the information above then either hit them repeatedly with your harvesting tool or blast them with a weapon. This will cause a Hard Drive to drop out, and you need to collect three of them in total – note that you will only receive Hard Drives by doing this when the specific Oathbound quest is active, so they won't appear at any other time no matter how many chests you destroy and you can't collect them in advance to save time.
