The anime movie Blood: The Last Vampire was met with enormous critical
acclaim when it was released back in 2000, praised for its bilingual format
and gorgeous blend of 2D and 3D animation. Now the much-anticipated
live-action version is coming to cinemas and we've got a first look at the
newly-released trailer! And we have to say, it looks gorgeous - you can
really tell it's from the same stable as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
and Hero.
Here's a plot synopsis: Directed by Chris Nahon (Kiss Of The Dragon)
and featuring stunning action sequences choreographed by legendary action
director Corey Yuen (Transporter 1 and 2; Jet Li’s The One; X-Men), Blood:
The Last Vampire tells the story of a mysterious girl known as Saya (Gianna
Jun), who is employed by a covert US government agency to eradicate a
species of vampire-demons that is about to threaten mankind. Half-demon
herself, and armed with just a samurai sword and a whole bunch of attitude,
Saya kicks vampire ass like nobody you have ever seen before.
It's out in Japan on 29 May, with a UK release following closely behind in early
June. Enjoy!
