First trailer for Godzilla smashes its way online: watch now

The first trailer for Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla remake has come stomping online, with the giant lizard more than living up to the director’s description of a vengeful “force of nature”.

The new film professes to “pit the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.” Sounds like fun, doesn’t it?

The new trailer gives us a pretty good impression of Edwards’ version of the monster, and the sheer havoc he’s capable of wreaking. Hold on to your hats, everyone...

Take a look at the new trailer, below...

Aside from the obvious beastie-based fun, it’s great to get a look at the stellar cast Edwards has assembled here, with the likes of Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Bryan Cranston and Elizabeth Olsen all lining up to hold their own against their titular co-star.

Directed by Edwards and co-starring Sally Hawkins, David Strathairn and Juliette Binoche, Godzilla will open in the UK on 16 May 2014.

Oh, and as well as the Cranston/Taylor-Johnson-tastic shot at the top of this page, check out two other new stills from the movie below.
