First look at Tom Holland's Spider-Man in the Avengers Quinjet

Ever since Marvel and Sony brokered a deal to bring Spider-Man to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the question on everyone's lips has been: when will we see this latest take on the fabled webslinger? While we've still yet to get a glimpse of that iconic red-and-blue costume, Captain America: Civil War executive producer Louis D'Esposito has given us the next best thing by posting a shot of himself alongside Spider-Man actor Tom Holland.

By the looks of it, the photo was snapped aboard the Avengers' Quinjet. Holland sports some battle makeup above his right eye that suggests ole Spidey's destined for a scrap in the upcoming superhero tussle.

Surprisingly, Marvel has managed to keep a lid on their new Spider-Man. After filming wrapped on Civil War months ago we've not had even a blurry set photo of Holland in action, nevermind an official shot. Part of the trepidation in unleashing him - and that legendary getup - upon the world is something Civil War directors Anthony and Joe Russo answered during a recent Q&A hosted by Collider:

"The reason why we still won’t talk about [the costume] is that Marvel and Sony still have to work out what uses they have for the character, on a promotional level, on a commercial level. There’s still complications as far as that goes that involves business deals." As the movie opens in a little over three months, can we expect to see an official image in the near future? Or will his big reveal be saved for the theater?

Directed by Joe Russo and Anthony Russo, and starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey, Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, Captain America: Civil War opens in UK cinemas on April 29, 2016 and May 6, 2016 in the US.
