First look at the new Karate Kid
Will Smith's young 'un takes a seat beside Jackie Chan
With the remake of '80s classic The Karate Kid hitting cinemas in June, details are emerging of how 11-year-old star Jaden Smith will tackle the role of young grasshopper Dre.
The story follows Dre after a move from America to China as he seeks guidance on the confusing new country from wise old sensei Mr Han, played by Jackie Chan.
It seems Smith Jr didn't just turn up on set, paint some fences and throw some shapes. He prepared for the role with gusto... "I trained every day for four months with [choreographer] Master Wu," he reveals. "We did a lot of stretching."
Meanwhile, Chan was full of praise for his co-star and said the film's lessons were taken to heart by the little tyke.
"His dad told me that Jaden had changed," Chan reveals.
"When he takes his shoes off, he doesn't throw them in the corner. He now puts them away neatly!"
Sounds like a well-trained student to us. We're thinking Chan could take over from Supernanny when she retires...
