A first image has arrived for Steven Soderbergh’s Magic Mike , and would you believe it – Matthew McConaughey’s only gone and taken his shirt off!
The first image shows McConaughey in the midst of a strip routine, alongside musclebound co-stars Alex Pettyfer and Channing Tatum. How he’s going to get out of those impossibly tight jeans is beyond us, but we’re sure he’ll find a way…
The film is based upon Tatum’s real life experiences as a male stripper, with Pettyfer playing a newcomer to the clothes-shedding business that Tatum’s character takes under his wing.
“We’re using Saturday Night Fever as our model, so hopefully we’re on the right track,” said Soderbergh of the project. “When Channing talked to me about this, I thought it was one of the best ideas I’d ever heard for a movie. I said I wanted in immediately. It’s sexy, funny and shocking.”
Magic Mike is released in the US on 29 June 2012, with a UK release date yet to be confirmed. In the meantime, those lusting for exposed man-flesh can just watch any of Matthew McConaughey’s back catalogue to tide them over…
