The first on-set images have leaked from the set of Hugh Jackman’s new one, an adaptation of the phenomenally popular stage musical, Les Misérables .
The pics show Jackman in costume as Valjean, sporting a straggly beard and a fairly slapdash buzz-cut. This will presumably be the stage at which Valjean is newly released from prison, before his journey of redemption begins in earnest.
Directed by The King’s Speech helmer Tom Hooper, Les Misérables is set in Paris during the early 19th Century and tells the story of a number of interconnected characters in the build-up to the June Rebellion of 1832.
Jackman will be joined on-screen by Russell Crowe as the villainous Javert, with support provided by the likes of Amanda Seyfried, Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham Carter.
