Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada addressed the state of Final Fantasy XIV during a recent investor briefing. Wada admitted that there were problems with the title and promised improvements as the company works towards regaining fans%26rsquo; trust. %26ldquo;We%26rsquo;re quickly working on reforms. We%26rsquo;d like to put our full power into regain trust,%26rdquo; said Wada.
According to Wada, the negative reception FFXIV received after it released was partly due to high expectations for the title, but the burden will be on Square Enix to satisfy customers. %26ldquo;If we satisfy our users, they will return. On the other hand, once the users say, %26lsquo;forget this,%26rsquo; there%26rsquo;s no turning back. We can only recover our trust so far,%26rdquo; explained Wada.
The news follows a bumpy launch for the MMORPG, which has received an overwhelmingly negative reception from critics and fans. Shortly after the title%26rsquo;s launch in late September, the game%26rsquo;s 30-day trial period was extended for an additional month after Square Enix received what the company refers to as %26ldquo;a wealth of constructive feedback%26rdquo; from the FFXIV community.
The PlayStation 3 version of Final Fantasy XIV is on track and is still scheduled to release in March, 2011.
