Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn opens August 27
MMORPG for PC and PS3 relaunches at reduced price
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will get a second chance for a first impression on August 27. The rebuilt MMORPG will hit both PC and PS3 simultaneously.
The standard version will cost $30 on PC, or $40 on PS3. A collector's edition which includes a hardcover art book, special videos and music, collectible art cards, an account security token, and in-game bonus items will go for $70 on PC and $80 on PS3.
You can download the PC version for free if you were one of those unfortunate souls who bought the original FFXIV. No free PS3 version, seeing as the PS3 version never actually came out.
The game is still subscription based at $13 a month, though new accounts receive a 30-day trial period. The beta is free and still accepting applications for sessions this summer.

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and now I'm a staff writer here at GamesRadar.
