Final Fantasy XIV clans revealed

The official Final Fantasy XIV website has been updated withnew information about the game's clans, which are subsets of the races. The races, by the way,are alot like FFXI's races, which is good if you liked those races, bad if you didn't, and meaningless if you're everyone else, which you probably are.

We've created a concise overview of the game's races and clans, mostly because they're easy targets for dumb jokes and cynicism. The full descriptions andimage setscan be found on the official slow-fade-overload website.

The Elezen

The tall, slim, honorable, pointy-eared elves - ELEZEN, we mean Elezen - are divided into the Wildwood and Duskwight clans. The wood elves -WILDWOOD ELEZEN, sorry -are a nomadic forest-dwellinggroup with keen eyesight and archery skills. The dark elves - DUSKWIGHT, dammit - live in caves and excel in hand-to-hand combat and thievery.

The Lalafell

These hobbit-likelittle bastards are the kind of cute you want to crush with the sole of your boot. Agile and clever, as all undersized protagonists must be, the Lalafell attract both indigenous fauna and Pedobear.

The Plainsfolk Lalafell dwell in thatched huts, whilethe Dunesfolk (pictured) live in fantasy-style mobile homes - structures erected on the backsoflarge animals.

The Hyur

Hyur de derp! These are your generic human types, meaning that they love being well-groomed and reproducing. The Hyur's two clans are the larger, more-likely-to-punch-you-in-the-faceHighlanders, and the well-educated (douchey)Midlanders (pictured... see?).

The Roegadyn

Every MMO needs a raceofoversized brutes. The Roegadyncome in ocean-loving Sea Wolves form, and superstitious, volcano-dwellingHellsguard form. Regardless of their clan, they're all big fans of Hugh Jackman's portrayal of Wolverine.

The Miqo%26rsquo;te

Cat people. SURPRISE. Okay, their ears aren't entirely cat-like, but they are hunters, and they come in sun-loving and nocturnal varieties. Meow.

For those who intendto buy the game, or will at least entertain the idea for the sake of discussion: which race/clan will you choose?
