Even less surprising than seeing Thierry Henry's name on the scoresheet is the fact that EA's latest football update FIFA 2005 comes straight in at number one. It was never in any doubt and is a double whammy for the series with FIFA 2004 still clinging on at 19.
The lovely Fable performs admirably, with second place being as good as it could have hoped for in the week when EA rolled out one of its most prolific print-your-own-money titles. The remaining new entry to shake up the top 10 is Activision's popular skater Tony Hawk's Underground 2.
Pokemon titles continue to do good business for Ninty, with gamers preferring the little Red number, which moves up two places to three, while Green slips the other way to nine. That said, the most conspicuous slider is Star Wars: Battlefront, managing to slip all the way to eight after being last week's one. Tiger Woods 2005 also can't save its blushes as it lands in one humdinger of a bunker, plummeting from three to 15.
While this week's new releases are thin on the ground, make a note that Pro Evolution Soccer 4 is out on PS2 this Friday (15 October) - it's the Pele of all football titles and those disposed towards a game of two halves will want to get this one early doors.
