Final Fantasy 7 might best be known for introducing us to Cloud Strife, or the death of beloved Aerith, or even just the haunting melody accompanying big bad Sephiroth, but it also featured a plethora of mini-games, from chocobo racing to snowboarding. With the Final Fantasy 7 Remake in development, you might be wondering which of those will make the cut.
"There were a lot of things from big to small, but we need to consider a bit whether it’s necessary to create them all with the latest technology," director Tetsuya Nomura told Dengeki PlayStation (as translated by Gematsu). Producer Yoshitori Kitase echoed the sentiment, saying the team wants to include fan-favorites "as much as possible."
At least it sounds like the dating scene and the Honey Bee Inn are still on the table, and the scenes will be fully voiced. Kitase did note that due to it originating in a different time with different societal standards, the scenes would need to be implemented "carefully." I'm not sure how you carefully include a brothel house full of prostitutes dressed as bees and a joke about your main character cross-dressing, but then, I'm not a game developer.
The Final Fantasy 7 Remake is slated to arrive on PS4 at some undetermined point in the future. The original game's 20th anniversary will occur on January 31, 2017, so hopefully we find out more before then.
