Far Cry Wii shots

Saturday 23 September 2006
Clap your eyes on the first ever shots of Far Cry Vengeance, the Wii-only episode in the murder-in-paradise action series, with an all new story and with Wii's motion-sensitive controllers used for driving, shooting, lobbing grenades and leaping through the tropical island environment.

Wii was never touted by Nintendo as being all-powerful in the graphics department, so it's no surprise that the first Far Cry Wii screens don't live up to, say, the visual levels set by Resistance: Fall of Man or Prey. But if the eye-fodder isn't that impressive, Vengeance is going to have to offer something really special with its motion-sensitive gameplay.

Above: The shots aren't eyeball-burningly impressive and don't give anything away about the motion-sensitive shooting

Vengeance will feature multiplayer gameplay, which is an exciting possibility for Wii's party potential, but we remain unconvinced that Wii's physical gameplay is a certain hit. So it will be interesting to see how well Ubisoft has employed Wii's remote and nunchuk controllers in Far Cry's bullet-dodging, shootout-heavy action.

There's no confirmed release date as yet, so it's likely that the arm-waving technology is still being tweaked to ensure an intuitive but challenging experience for what could be either a defining Wii-experience or a disappointingly wet squib. We'll be hunting down some hands on action soon, so keep your eyes on Games Radar.
