Fallout forefather Wasteland being resurrected?
Creator Brian Fargo says he's looking into bringing back the game that spawned the Fallout series
Wasteland, Interplay's post-apocalyptic RPG from the late '80s that inspired the Fallout series, could well be returning to the videogame world according to its creator Brian Fargo.
"I am indeed looking into bringing back the game that spawned the Fallout series. Stay tuned..." Fargo, now at developer inXile, told Fallout community forum Duck and Cover.
Wasteland was set after a nuclear holocaust and WWIII, putting players in command of a group of Desert Rangers that uncovered a sinister plot that threatened the existence of the remaining populace of Earth (thanks, Moby Games).
Has Bethesda's Fallout 3 sparked Fargo's interest in resurrecting Wasteland? Could be. InXile's certainly no stranger to reinventing old RGPs - it remade classic role-player The Bard's Tale for PC, Xbox and PS2.
