Did you know that there is such a thing as The World Dog Awards, presented by The CW? I sure didn't! But it's true, and not only are these awards a very real thing, they even have a category for best dog featured in a video game. And while the competition was fierce with nominees like D-Dog from Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain and Chop from GTA 5, it was Fallout 4's Dogmeat that took home the gold.

The awards ceremony was actually held in January, but it was today that Bethesda shared a picture of River, the real-life canine that Dogmeat is based on, with her golden fire hydrant. Because of course it's a golden fire hydrant.
Let us take a moment to reflect on the day that Dogmeat was finally, officially recognized for being the good dog she is.
