Faces of War hands-on

All of the heavy ordnance is important because we could simply blow up every damn thing in the game. Feeling trigger happy after basic training, we decided to see if we could detonate the train that was about to take us to the Russian Front. Oh, yeah: we could. But more importantly, we could take out buildings where our enemies took cover, blow holes in walls that blocked our path and strategically knock out bridges. The thick action got very intense, very often, and we found ourselves happy to only be responsible for our small platoon in the midst of the heavy chaos.

For some, Faces of War may seem wildly intricate to the point of tedium and its RPG elements misplaced. But others will certainly enjoy the breakneck pace, explosive gameplay and attention to tiny details.

Faces of War is set to arrive in early September.
