Explosive new trailer for Looper: watch now
"The only rule is never let your target escape"
Looper has released a new international trailer, in which Joseph Gordon-Levitt grapples with the uncomfortable situation of having to assassinate his future self, as played by Bruce Willis.
"Time travel has not yet been invented," explains JGL's character, Joe. "But 30 years from now it will have been. So when criminal organisations in the future need someone got, they zap him back to me, and I do the necessaries."
That's the set-up nicely explained then, allowing the rest of the trailer to cram in a job-lot of mayhem, as Joe's future self desperately tries to convince him not to follow orders, but to help him take out his future boss instead.

The mysterious "Rainmaker" remains cloaked in shadow at this point, but it's nice to see the supporting cast get a bit of a run out, with Jeff Daniels and an extremely sexy Emily Blunt getting to speak their first lines. The set-up also looks to provide some juicy tension between the two Joes, with both growing increasingly frustrated by the other's perceived selfishness.
Directed by Rian Johnson and co-starring Paul Dano, Piper Perabo and Garret Dillahunt, Looper will open in the UK On 28 September 2012. Time-travel head-scratching ahoy!
