Expanded synopsis revealed for AKA Jessica Jones

With Daredevil having scored rave reviews from both fans and critics alike, attention now turns to the second of Netflix’s new Marvel shows, AKA Jessica Jones. Plot details had previously been fairly sparse, but a new synopsis has appeared online shedding some more light on what we can expect from the new series.

The new information comes from an Amazon listing for a tie-in companion book set to launch in November, that provides a handy primer for the set-up of the new series…

“Ever since her short-lived stint as a Super Hero ended in tragedy,” begins the new blurb, “Jessica Jones has been rebuilding her personal life and career as a hot-tempered, sardonic, badass private detective in Hell’s Kitchen, New York City. Plagued by self-loathing, and a wicked case of PTSD, Jessica battles demons from within and without, using her extraordinary abilities as an unlikely champion for those in need… especially if they’re willing to cut her a cheque.”

No word yet as to how much of that superhero past will be shown on screen, but we’d imagine there will be a fair few flashback sequences to account for just how Jessica came by that PTSD. Given that the character will be new to a lot of viewers, we’d expect a decent chunk of backstory to come as part of the package. Starring Krysten Ritter in the title role, AKA Jessica Jones will debut on Netflix later this year.
