Exclusive The Thing deleted scene and featurette: watch now

The Thing (2011) is out on DVD and Blu-ray next week, and to give you a taster of what to expect, we’ve got two exclusive videos for you.

First up is a deleted scene, ‘Start the helicopter’. While it doesn’t have Arnie barking ‘Get to the chopper!’, it does show just how closely the setting of John Carpenter’s The Thing has been evoked.

The clip isn’t for the faint-hearted, as the unsuspecting chopper pilot chances upon some charred, barely human remains at the Antarctica research site.

And for those of you interested in the technical wizardry underneath the alien grue, we’ve also got a Making Of featurette that’s part of the DVD extras.

Even though the curtain’s pulled back, there’s still some imagery in here that’s likely to challenge the contents of your stomach.

The team give an insight into how they homaged Carpenter’s movie with a practical puppetry effects, while still using CGI to blend some of the seams.
