Exclusive: Joss Whedon on Avengers: Age Of Ultron and his Marvel future

Avengers: Age Of Ultron is in cinemas now in the US and UK (here's our review!) and Total Film had the opportunity to sit down with Joss Whedon to discuss the epic superhero sequel.

Unless you've been living under a rock for the last few years, you'll know the score with Avengers 2. Following on from Avengers Assemble (the third-highest-grossing film of all time), the film picks up with the super-team after their previous Phase 2 adventures (Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier), as their united services are once again required.

The team face a threat worthy of their combined powers after Tony Stark inadvertently unleashes a megalomaniacal AI, Ultron (James Spader), originally designed to help the Avengers and ease their world-saving load. Also in the mix are newcomers Pietro and Wanda Maximoff (Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen), AKA Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch, superpowered twins with vengeance on their minds.

In the video interview below, Whedon tells us why Age Of Ultron was so much harder to make than the first film, and discusses his feelings as he steps away from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He also explains which film in Marvel's bustling line-up he's most looking forward to watching...
