Talk about a leap for your second film… Sharon Maguire, who directed her first film in 2001- frothy rom com sequel Bridget Jones’s Diary: The Edge Of Reason is getting back behind the camera for something a little different.
Incendiary follows the fallout of a suicide bombing that strikes in the heart of London and the emotional effects on its victims and their families. We’re pretty sure there won’t be any ice cream-scoffing singletons in the plot, which has been adapted from Chris Cleave’s novel about a woman rebuilding her life when her husband and son are killed.
Ewan McGregor, Michelle Williams and Pride & Prejudice’s Matthew Macfadyen have all signed on board for the film, which Maguire will start shooting in two weeks on location.
"We fought hard for the rights to this story because it seemed to us to be a stunningly original, visceral and ultimately life-affirming response to the world we now inhabit,” blabbed producer Andy Paterson to Variety. “Sharon's screenplay captures the startling humour of Chris Cleave's extraordinary novel, and we're blessed with our dream cast and financing partners, who represent a vision of the future for our battered industry."
