Shaberu! DS Oryouri Navi: Marugoto Teikoku Hotel
Last year, Shaberu taught reluctant chefs how to whip up some impressive food using stuff scraped from the back of their own fridges, a razor-sharp knife and a giant radish.
This time, they've turned the dial toIron Chef. Out go the ham and cheese sandwiches and basic omelette recipes, and in comes a menu devised by the kitchen ninjas of the Imperial Hotel.
It's supposed to be a celebration of Japanese cuisine's global influence, mixing contemporary ingredients with traditional techniques - there are mayonnaise-stuffed California rolls if you're feeling ambitious, along with an excellent range of soy noodle dressings for the less able.
We give this top marks for tastiness, and a rating way off the scale for the fact that it reads the recipes to you and responds to voice commands, allowing you to place the DS at a safe distance from splashes of the mysterious "salad oil" that features in so many dishes. There's talk of a Western release. Yum.
