Evan Rachel Wood will play Mary Jane Watson
Thirteen star snags the role of Spider-Man’s girlfriend
Evan Rachel Wood has announced that she’ll take on the role of Mary Jane Watson – better known as Spider-Man’s love interest.
But hold your horses, Kirsten Dunst fans: she’s not replacing KD. Nope, she’s been signed up to co-star in the Spider-Man musical by her Across The Universe director Julie Taymor.
Planning to hit the stage in 2010, the show starts rehearsals next year and will feature music from U2’s Bono and The Edge and is planned as a huge, lavish stage experience.
Jim Sturgess?
According to Wood, who spoke to IESB, Taymor is looking to recruit fellow Universe actor Jim Sturgess to play Peter Parker. Well, at least we know he can sing.
Oh, and for all those Spider-Man movie fans wondering about the film’s version of Mary Jane? No idea, sorry.
